master painters and plein air painting in The Netherlands

The Netherlands…we do have a nice collection of famous master painters here. Rembrandt, van Gogh, Vermeer being the most famous ones, but there are many, many more. Personally I like van Gogh very much because of the emotion in his work but I am very fond as well of a modern artist like Henk Helmantel (see the pictures below). And I like painting myself….so why not combine it in a tour? And why not paint with you? Sure, why not!

This 4 day roundtrip is built in a daily similar  set up: In the morning we visit a museum of high standard and after lunch, filled with inspiration and Dutch cheese, we go for it ourselves. And if the weather forecast is bad for the afternoon we turn it around or paint at a sheltered place. We will be working on Canvas panels that you can easily put in your suit case to bring back home (or I will send them afterwards) and we will paint with acrylics. Admittance fees and material up to 4 boards is included in the price; extra boards or the wish to use oil-paint on request. Painting locations variable and as such not listed.

Included: guiding services, mileage and fuel, lunches, hotel half board, admittance fees, overhead costs, paints, acrylic paint, 4 boards, painter’s easel
Excluded: evening diners, souvenirs and personal expenses

Itinerary:
Day 1: Pick-up and a visit to Rembrandt’s house, where he lived and worked.
Day 2: Visit to museum Kröller-Müller near Arnheim. This museum, started from a private collection, has modern art as the basic art form. It has a very big collection of Van Gogh’s next to Picasso, Renoir, Mondriaan and many others and also a garden with statues.
Day 3: Visit to museum “De Fundatie” in the city of Zwolle. The museum has the mission “to exhibit the finest expressions of the human spirit from all times and by all peoples” ; art from all ages and inspiration from different angles guaranteed.
Day 4: Visit to “museum More” which stands for MOdern REalisme. Te museum has a wonderful private collection of famous Dutch painters like Jan Mankes, Carel Willink and Jan Toorop (see pictures below).
At the end of the day we say good-bye, most likely in Amsterdam or somewhere close.
